The Charminar Precinct experiences a range of actiivities which are commercial, religious, cultural and also social. The major tourist influx in this area is a direct consequence of the uniqueness of these activities. The main reason for degeneration in the area is the mis-use of available space and infrastructure. This is in turn due to lack of space designation and developmental control. These aspects discourage many user groups from accessing the area, affecting its economic and cultural vitality and limiting its potential.
There is no question about the fact that Hyderabad City has a quality urban space in the Charminar Precinct. One that is currently unrecognized, but definitely not unappreciated. CPP aims to achieve through the proposed concept plan a quality urban environment which is accessible, safe, secure and aesthetic. The majot works include, pedestrianisation of Charminar surrounds, conservation of historic structures in the Precinct and upgradation of infrastructure.
