Fall 2010 3rd Year Architectural Studio Project.The project is to design a Charlotte Children's Museum in Freedom Park on the site of the existing Nature Museum. Some of the programmatic elements include: four galleries, temporary gallery space, lobby/ticketing, climbing sculpture, cafe, retail, theater, classroom, accessible rooftop garden, offices, and conference room.My interpretation of the project is to create an environment that benefits a child’s need to learn, disposition to play, and nature to explore. The project should also appeal to the adults who experience the museum with the children. All of this should be done while adhering to the demands of program and function.
