In
the heart of Moscow a lot of important Russian icons stood along history, the
Kremlin, red square played an important role for the political life and the St.
Basil church also acts as an icon for the religious life; the Pushkinsky has
also the same impact on the Russian cultural life and played an important role
in the heart of the Russian history, but it has been marred by years of neglect
andlost its value as well as
its glamour.
The design proposes the rejuvenation of this
Russian cultural lighthouse, so it can rejuvenate the Russian history,
traditions & culture and to push the pushkinsky forward into the future of
contemporary Russian architecture to act as a landmark once again.
It
starts with small pyramids cladding flowing from the back getting bigger as it
reaches the front, in a wavy like manner, and this movement is depicted in changing
the heights of the pyramids as it flows, pumping back life into the Russian culture
passing through the front pattern which represents the Russian heritage that
should be revived again. This revival as well as being shown in the flowing of
the pyramids it is also shown clearer at night when the light, which represents
the cultural beam that will revive and enlighten the Russian heritage
represented by the front incomplete patterns.
The
pyramid cladding was used on the domes in many Old Russian churches, but by adding
a contemporary materials to meet today’s standards and also the pattern and
colors are selected from an old traditional Russian ornament, embroidery in
costumes and also in architecture.
