"ChangeIT" was built in an architecture festival to improve the life quality of casualties of Kermanshah earthquake. This project is an example of a platform designed from dynamic objects which is formable with different sizes and materials in order to create group and individual behaviors which have been created in the size specified by the competition (4m*4m*3m).
Changeability and movement of hangers on rails create the possibility of user’s influence on the environment. Furthermore, in order to create pleasant dizziness, the possibility of swinging and spinning in dynamic cylinders were created. The hangers are springs with a diameter of 57 centimeters which have been made by 6-millimeter steel springs with 2 meters height. These springs were covered by colored tarpaulins which were sewed according to spring scales. Colorful cover limits sight and emphasizes on other senses. The possibility of shrinking of springs together with the possibility of a 360-degree rotation of the cylinders which is possible both from inside or outside of the hangers creates a new experience for the users. The organization of the project according to the movability of modules in a labyrinth creates the possibility of different behaviors during the game and interaction with users. Furthermore, colored moving cylinders are a mask for the users inside them, thus they take the outer users into the game.
"ChangeIT" consists of 18 hangers with 5 colors, orange, green, yellow, blue and red, which are in 6 parallel rows with span of 4 meters and in addition to former behaviors, provides the possibility of creating different behaviors such as playing football by using the hangers without the ability to see.
The springs are placed in a circular metal piece with the same radius and this piece is connected to the spool by a cross-shaped connection. The swing inside the hangers is connected to the cross-shaped piece of the cover. The tarpaulin cover is screwed to the metal ring by a galvanized plate.
Assembling the springs and tarpaulins in a group is possible which creates a purposeful interaction, therefore by involving the casualties in making their own playground improves their sense of belonging to the project and effectiveness.
