Set atop the London Silver Vaults, the transformed Chancery House is our largest project yet for The Office Group. We refurbished, reconfigured and extended the original 127,000 sqft building to deliver a sustainable co-working haven achieving BREEAM Excellent and WELL Platinum.
Our retrofit has stripped back an aesthetically incongruous glass curtain-wall façade of a 2000s extension in favour of a higher-performing cladding system, reconfigured the ground-floor structure to allow better permeability and introduced new carefully planned lightwells and courtyards to bring light into the previously dark interior and lower floors.
The new flexible workspace, which was 75% let within 3 months of launching, features beautiful shared workspaces, breakouts and amenities including a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio, rooftop terrace, courtyards and a café. A major driver in the design of these internal spaces was the recent sea change in working behaviour, from 9–5 desk-based work to greater flexibility and autonomy, moving between different styles of workspaces as the individual task demands.
The arrival experience on Chancery Lane has been transformed by a new enlarged entrance featuring a dramatic steel-lined portal reminiscent of the London Silver Vaults below. This has given the building a stronger sense of presence whilst enhancing its relationship with the street.
