*Project Description
Located in Cuiabá, the Cerrado House arises from the idea of designing a residence without actually knowing who will occupy it. Recently, the office received numerous requests for the development of residential projects, intended for sale. This phenomenon is a reflection of a substantial demand for housing in different market spheres in the Midwest of the country. This guideline gave the responsible team a new and more comprehensive program of needs, requiring a deeper understanding of the wishes of a previously defined portion of people who could become potential home buyers.
Based on these guidelines, the office gathered the essential elements for the project, dividing it into two sectors: the intimate and the social. Already at the entrance of the house, the garage with ceiling and wooden panels gives shape to part of the volumetry, making the positioning of the main access clear. In the entrance hall, a pergola covered by a sheet of glass lets in sunlight, generating different patterns of shadows on the walls and floor throughout the day. After the hall, the user is led to the social sector, which brings together the dining and living/TV rooms, kitchen and barbecue area in a spacious environment and connected to the external area. In this space, the ceiling height of 4 meters and the two large openings facing the pool guarantee a generous penetration of sunlight in the morning.
Access to the intimate sector is established through the dining room and houses three suites, each with access to the lateral gardens of the residence, one of which has a dressing room. Built using traditional masonry methods and covered with metallic sandwich tiles, the residence has a floor area of 174m², in addition to an 11.3m² swimming pool.
The intense presence of sunlight played a crucial role in the development of the project. In the Midwestern states, high temperatures require special attention in architectural designs. The residence establishes an important dialogue with this aspect, incorporating several elements that amplify the entrance of natural light where appropriate, while protecting the internal spaces when necessary. In addition to providing a solution for cross ventilation in the social area, a glazed strip with an overhang triggers the entry of indirect lighting throughout the day. In the bathrooms, zenith openings were strategically incorporated, allowing the filtering of natural light throughout the day.
