Urban centrality is restored to the shopping mall located in Borgo Panigale, Bologna, through a synergy of architecture, art, graphic design, and visual communication. Through a thorough study of the complex and its changing perspectives, Area-17 and INRES have developed an innovative and dynamic language, characterized by the use of color that dresses up the main architectural elements. The iconic reinterpretation of the three entrance towers transforms them in a metallic red twist, dematerializing toward the sky and emphasizing their commercial and symbolic nature.
Boundaries disappear and the gallery becomes a real urban path, where inside and outside lose their traditional spatial connotations. The façade features backlit milled KRION, a stunning contemporary reinterpretation of the ancient city walls, which were partially covered in climbing plants. They protect rounded indoor squares, animated by pillars that resemble trees saturated in color, rooted in the vibrant flooring pattern.
