The architectural approach was inspired by the concept of visibility: the visibility of the sports center in relation to the school campus, the visibility of sports activities both inside and outside the building, the visibility of entrances, as well as the visibility of access and interior spaces.

Overall, the terms distinction, flexibility and functionality guided the conceptual approach to the proposal. To achieve this, the architecture integrates the notions of mass and lightness, so as to foster an architectural composition that establishes a dialogue between the massive appearance of the existing building and a desire for renewal. The desire to offer a Nordic feel and to develop a new architectural composition by revisiting textures and materials in order to introduce a new relationship with the site and its users was also exploited in the design. In addition, the integration of new sources of natural light was an avenue explored to enhance the quality of interior ambiences. Finally, for a building where a sense of belonging is important, signage principles were put forward to promote a distinctive architecture that would be associated with the establishment's sports teams. In this way, both visual and physical links are established in the architectural approach to the building and its environment.
