The University of Liverpool’s new Central Teaching Laboratories are set to transform the way in which Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Archaeology, Geography, and Earth and Ocean Science) are taught at the University of Liverpool. The new three storey building is designed to enhance the student experience by creating high quality, contemporary learning facilities, to support a new modular teaching course and promote inter-disciplinary learning between the sciences. Flexible teaching space allows for both small and large groups. 15 state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, several of which have a capacity for over 200 students, will also be made accessible to all of the departments. A large central atrium at the heart of the building will provide circulation routes and break-out spaces that encourage interaction between students.Sustainable features have been incorporated into the design to help the University reach its ambition of achieving a high BREEAM rating. These include a green roof, rainwater harvesting, a heat recovery system and solar panels.
