CONCEPTUAL PROJECT OF CENTRAL MOSQUE IN PRISHTINA – DESIGNED BY PRIMA ENGINEERING
The concept of an open space surrounding the whole building is the first step that defines the Central Mosque as the core of a territory in the developing period, where the pedestrian circulation is quite intense through all the sides of the site. This creates a vibrant public space characterized by the high flux of movement. The ratio of 50% of using the parcel for the building shows the limits of organizing the open, closed and semi-closed areas decorated with greenery and water to improve the quality of the zone, and create a welcoming space not only for the Islamic believers, but also for the community around the Mosque.
PLISI - the white wool traditional Albanian hat- the identification symbol in this land, along with the Islamic Belief.
The whole treasure of the Holy Qur'an therefore is being embraced by the spirit of Kosova people.
The sun enlightens the Truth- the Qur'an verses, the path which subsequently is an entrance from around the outside ambience, leading to the main core of the House of God- the prayer hall.
The envelope of the Mosque is treated in a way of being transparent enough – welcoming the believers and visitors from all the parts of the site. Together with the regular ottoman with Albanian symbolic dome and the four Minarets "growing up to the sky" do form the pure composition of the holly prayer Mosque.
