In the year 2007 King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok was renamed "King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok and became an autonomous state university.
KMUTNB, was established in 1959 from the constructive cooperation between the Thai Government and the Federal Republic of Germany, it was known as "Thai-German Technical School."
After 50 years the low-rise building from the early day of the university had to make way for new type of building that will better utilized the hard earned building space. During the years 2009 - 2016, 5 buildings built to generate space for classroom, engineering laboratory, college-preparatory school, football field and the campus main parking space.
