The Chapel was designed to become the “Crown Jewel” of the existing church campus. The objective was to develop a design language that captures the Ancient/Future goals of creating a traditional worship environment that is evocative of traditional church architecture while simultaneously equipping the facility with the technological needs of today and the future. This was achieved by the use of Gothic arches set in cast stone, exposed wood ceilings and paneling, custom designed chandeliers and subtle lighting to reflect the traditional goals while concealing the effects of current and potential technological needs.
As designed, the facility is to be used for weddings, funerals and other occasions that require a more intimate or formal setting than is currently available on the church campus. This was achieved with a high level of finish on the interior of the chapel that includes stained glass windows, stained wood trim and paneling, fabric wrapped acoustical panels and stone flooring.
The addition is comprised of 31,000 square feet on two levels that includes the following:
• 462 seat Worship Center / Chapel
• Narthex and main building lobby
• Fellowship hall that can seat 250 people for a dinner setting plus a warming kitchen; all located on the lower level which provides access to a patio and promenade along the lake front
• Bride’s Room
• Porte’ Cochere
• Enclosed corridor providing access to the existing church facilities
