CDIA Rental Car Facility and Hourly Parking Deck

SIZE
1,000,000 +

This
3.2-million square foot project consists of a 7-level parking structure with
approximately 4,000 spaces on four upper levels dedicated to premium hourly
public parking, and 3,000 spaces on three lower levels for rental car
ready/return spaces and quick-turn-around washing and fueling facilities. There
is also an area for valet parking.
Vertical vehicular circulation between levels is accessed through a double-helix ramp at each end of the end, in which an ascending ramp and descending ramp are intertwined around each one another.  These elements clearly organize the flow of traffic as well as elevate one's use of the deck to a memorable experience.  The deck is partially screened on all sides by perforated metal panels which diffuse light while providing natural ventilation.  Pedestrian circulation between levels is accessed through eight concrete stair towers and four stair and elevator towers which are cantilevered out from the deck, highlighting one's movement through the structure as both efficient and dramatic. The deck incorporates a Customer Service
Building component located immediately across from the Airport Terminal, which
will give passengers convenient ticket-level access to various rental car
service counters and vehicle pick-up.Presently under construction, the deck is slated
for completion in 2014.
