CHALLENGE
CBRE made the strategic decision to move to an activity-based working (ABW) model for its Sydney head office, only the second of 21 CBRE offices worldwide to complete the journey to an ABW environment.
The project involved a consolidation of the organisation’s workplace from five floors across two buildings onto just two floors at 363 George Street, Sydney.
Working to tight time and budgetary constraints, WMK was engaged to deliver a design solution which would add value to the CBRE business and provide a modern, progressive workplace for staff.
SOLUTION
Drawing on expertise in business and lifestyle design, WMK delivered a unique ABW environment tailored to the specific needs and unique culture of the organisation.
Combining the latest workplace innovations with a warm, textured design approach, WMK created a lifestyle workplace that takes a non-corporate approach.
A layering of natural materials, organic forms and bespoke lighting and furniture soften the hard edges of the existing built environment and bring a new level of sophistication to the workplace.
OUTCOME
The new environment delivers an open, collaborative experience which has increased connectivity and instigated change across the organisation.
An overall space saving of almost 30% has been achieved while a 65% increase in the number of meeting rooms now provides more than 60 separate spaces to meet and collaborate, including an expansive breakout area.
The new workplace takes ABW to a whole new level, bringing a contemporary lifestyle flavour to a functional business environment, and transforming the way people work in the process.
