A “Conscious Community” of 3 individual home sites was created that shared site resources and promoted the concept that even larger homes can be sustainable. The design of CB One, the first of the homes, took advantage of current sustainable technologies, used recycled and regional materials, and used products made from rapidly renewable resources. The home also used passive solar technology, radiant heating in the floor, and low flow fixtures throughout most of the building. This home did little harm to the beautiful environment around it and is an example of “thinking before you build”.
