LATIS provided a series of feasibility studies for a large commercial site on the outskirts of Doncaster. The existing site consisted of a densely mixed tapestry of buildings of varying scales and usage. The client wanted these to be condensed with an option to phase through the stages of building each finger as and when demanded by market trends in relation to the expiration of existing leases.A series of fingers with 360 degree naturally lit stack spaces separating each one were deemed beneficial to the site due to its complexity. Each of the finger buildings are orientated to gain the maximum amount of daylight from a site that is surrounded on each one of its three aspects. The scheme utilizes the major bonus of its adjacent proximity to the nearby public park to feather the boundaries of the development and seeks to open its edges to the public domain. The stepping in plan provides maximum daylight deep into the plan of the offices with main windows facing the north light to avoid solar gain through the facade.
