On a pristine hillside site in the Hollywood Hills, the existing residence did little to take advantage of the stunning views or the intimate rear yard. MAKE reorganized the center of the house by striking an open area from the rear yard to the from of the house accessed by a wide clear sliding glass door opening at the rear yard and encouraging a use of the indoor and outdoor spaces with uninterrupted spatial flow. The dining room is located in the corner of the house where the exterior cladding of the house was removed and replaced by glazing and the existing structure being retained providing for a sizable glazed opening offering stunning views of the Hollywood Hills to Catalina Island.
