This installation seeks to explore the potential interactivity between occupants and their movement through a space. The lighting is set to detect motion and in turn trigger a cascading effect of light flowing along the surface, ultimately surrounding the users in a ribbon of light. The undulating surface is parametrically generated to create a spatial enclosure that divides the corridor into three distinct zones. The first is meant simply to allow steady pedestrian traffic through the space, the second to allow the users to be surrounded by the bluish glow of the light on all sides, and the third is a tighter space meant to give the user the fullest sense of enclosure. The walls are covered in a reflective black plastic to reflect the blue light emitted by the tubes and to intensify the same feeling of being “encased” in light in all the spaces created in the corridor.
