Casa Xk'anlol is a single-family residence located in the heart of Mérida, Yucatán. Conceived as a warm and contained refuge, the project emerges from the need to inhabit the historic center with a renewed perspective: to reconnect with the interior, with nature, and with the everyday through serene architecture.
The layout is based on a simple yet effective L-shaped organization, where the common areas—living room, dining room, and kitchen—open onto a central courtyard with trees and a pool that visually and thermally anchors the space. The bedrooms are sheltered in a more intimate volume, strategically oriented to take advantage of cross ventilation and natural light. The transition between private and social areas flows naturally, accompanied by terraces, vegetation, and a palette of natural materials.
The use of polished concrete and local wood creates an atmosphere of sobriety and warmth. The project's textures and tones converse with custom-made furniture and handcrafted elements that reflect the regional identity. The lighting design, neutral finishes, and integration of art and textiles complete the experience.
