CASA VICENTE
Uncertainty as an opportunity of change.
The pandemic affected -among other things- the way we relate and inhabit spaces.
As a working hypothesis we understood that instability maybe would become a new form of equilibrium.
The case below tells the story of a small family that was affected due to the lost of their job.
Continuing paying the rent month after month became increasingly unaffordable.
Faced with this new reality, they both decided to change course, and listening to their hands, they trained in carpentry and woodframing. Equipped with basic tools and knowledge, but with an appropriate attitude, they left their old location and embarked on the great adventure of building a wooden house in a lot with exuberant nature.
A limited budget, a quick execution and the possibility of adapting to other uses in the future were the design premises. Its architecture arises as a consequence of structural portics; that intertwined with each other through longitudinal beams generate a spatial grid. Within this grid we find a single environment capable of being compartmentalized according to the needs of those who inhabit it. The service spaces such as the bathroom, kitchen and closets are hidden by a system of folding doors that allow this wall to be understood as a habitable interior facade with ability to mutate.
