A. CONTEXT: The site is a subdivision on the banks of the Simpson River on the Aysén- Coyhaique Road. The hills on the north and south sides that make up the Cajón del Río form an immersed landscape where the river and its breeze are the protagonists. Direct sunshine conditions are scarce in the terrain, leaving humidity and constant wind.
B. THE PROPOSAL It is decided to get as close to the river as possible, to obtain a little more solar radiation that covers the hills, and also to take advantage of the scenic beauty of the river itself. Therefore, 3 guidelines are being worked on:
One, that the house should give the least resistance to the wind, work and be arranged downwind, but allowing to leave an outside area protected from it.
Two, that the house should take the primitive condition of being able to take shelter without being a hermetic body. For which the analogy is made with the "Rocky Eaves" that were the first shelter of primitive man where he was protected from the weather. In view of this, the envelope is worked as a large cover tail that covers and that by its inclination allows to be outside, but protected by receiving the few hours of direct sunlight north.
Three, due to the proximity to the river and contemplating the centennial floods of these, the distribution is worked in a staggered manner, leaving on the first level the parking and warehouses, then on the intermediate level, the large terrace and inside the common areas. And on the second floor, the most intimate, the bedrooms. Its pile structure provides the characteristic of a low impact on the river as if the house were a neutral pavilion, unlike its north facade where its height unfolds.
The house is thought of as a reciprocal body with the environment, letting the river in from its windows and allowing the wind to flow along its volume.
