CASA S is a single family residence located on the rocky coast of Zapallar, 180 km from Santiago, Chile.
It is set on a gently sloped 3,500 sq. m lot, approximately 200 m from the coast, on a cliff 100 m above sea level.
Low cost materials were chosen, primarily galvanized metal and pine wood. The house is composed of one rectangular volume 9 mt wide and 30 mt long, based on a 3 x 3 mt structural module. There is only one level that adapts itself to the barely inclined lot through a 36 cm drop that becomes evident in the deck that travels across the Eastern façade.
Like the neighboring homes, it has white aluminum solar shading and wide eaves towards the East.
The workers´ facilities and the laundry room are located in an independent area, creating a patio between both volumes.
The landscape work aims to restore native plants, something that is essential for low water consumption.
