Located in Rio Vermelho district, in Florianópolis, this neighborhood, although is well near to the beach, still preserves rural characteristics. The residence was built in the place of a small house kind "studio", that already had a precarious structure and did not attend anymore the program of needs of the holders, that live two hous drive away, and come to the house every weekend, to enjoy Florianópolis. The idea was to build a new house, in the place of the old one, that privileged the leisure and social life, since it is a residence for the weekend. The new program called for two suites, kitchen integrated with the living room, varandas and a swimming pool with lane. The lot, at the time of the project, was bigger (another neighboring lot was purchased ) and now offered two front facedes to the streets, a south and another one north. This condition was crucial for locating the house in the center of the lot and all the area living area, leisure and dormitories in the north facade, because of the best solar orientation. In the façade facing south, are the bathrooms and a varanda. In the living room, the frames that are opened for both the varandas are generous and provide the interior exterior connection and also enable the crossed ventilation in the environment, that leaves the home aired even in the hot days of summer. The varandas allow the widening environments and accommodate more people for social gathering , and also offer the chance to escape from the strong gusts of the two more constant kinds of wind in the Island, the South and the Northeast. On the west side, beyond the contribution for the abundant natural lighting, the glass panels has the task to frame the landscape of the hill. And also it provides the accumulation of the solar radiation to heat the house in the cold nights of the winter in the south of Brazil. Some furniture (dining table and grill table),are Itaúba wood, and were made with leftover parts of the structure of the house.
