In the evocative setting of Courmayeur, DCEF Studio has overseen the interior design and spatial reconfiguration of a mountain residence, elevating the original developer's proposal toward a concept of discreet and functional luxury. The intervention, focused on optimizing space and merging existing volumes with new extensions, features custom-designed furniture and finishes throughout. The result is a seamless balance between the welcoming soul of tradition and a strictly modern aesthetic language.
Redefining Space and Conviviality
The true heart of the home is the living area, a high-impact space born from the strategic decision to sacrifice a third bedroom to provide ample room for social life. This bright and airy environment masterfully integrates the kitchen block and a custom bench a solution that utilizes the double-height ceilings to create an intimate mezzanine dedicated to guests. Visual continuity is ensured by wooden boiserie that wraps around the entrance, fluidly transitioning into the kitchen cabinetry while elegantly concealing access to technical compartments. The living room is completed by a conversation area gathered around a large sofa, where the warmth of the fireplace dialogues with the texture of the “De Curtil” stone bench, a material typical of the local area.
A Chromatic Journey Between Floors
The attention to detail continues into the bedrooms, where the warmth of wood blends with a refined color palette. On the lower floor, the sleeping area is characterized by shades of blue paired with neutral tones and wooden paneling; here, textiles take center stage, covering both the headboard and the doors of the wardrobe cleverly integrated into the under-stair space. Ascending to the highest point of the house, the master suite is nestled within a charming turret. In this intimate space, green and brick-red tones create a vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere, complemented by a small walk-in closet that optimizes every available inch. Consistently with the rest of the home, the bathrooms mirror the rooms' color schemes through resin finishes that provide uniformity and a modern touch.
Light as a Building Material
The challenge won by DCEF Studio was transforming compact spaces into environments equipped with every comfort, without ever compromising on timeless elegance. In this perfect equilibrium between aesthetics and practicality, natural and artificial light has been treated as a true building material, capable of shaping surfaces and creating the warm, vibrant atmosphere that defines modern high- altitude living
