Casa Parque Barigui was designed based on the precepts presented by clients who wanted a house
with ample social space integrated with the garden. To achieve this objective, the layout of the social area
was inverted, positioning it at the back of the lot and the private area of bedrooms on the second floor.
The plot had a natural slope towards the back, which gave the opportunity to create two floors
taking advantage of its slope This difference in level resulted in the second floor master bedroom accessing
the front garden and the living room opening to the back garden. The house’s volume consisted of a white
block, with punctual openings that correspond to the rooms, suspended under pillars and glass openings on
the ground floor where the social area of the house takes place. The base of the house with the pillars and
concrete walls contrast with the purity of the suspended white block.
The front wall is a mesh of concrete blocks that forms a visual filter between the public space and
the inner garden. This front garden is experienced by the couple's suite, which accesses it through a wide
opening that captures the morning sun.
The living room's microcement floor unifies the environment that combines living, dining and
cooking. The union of these programs in the same space makes the house more dynamic, the interactions
between the residents more intense and meaningful with shared moments of preparing food together. To
bring more visual warmth to the space, the wall leading to the stairs is made of solid demolition brick, which
was originally a brick oven, a material that carries a story of its own.
The natural lighting of the house gets in all environments, the bedroom suite with the morning sun,
the other bedrooms, bathrooms and living room with the sun throughout the day. The room also gets the late
afternoon sun with the back opening. A burst of light on the roof permeates the corridors of the rooms
(second pav) and access (ground floor) as well as the living room environment.
