On the slopes of the Estoril Coast, in the town of Parede, rises a unique house that stands out not only for its privileged location but also for its architecture and commitment to sustainability.
Situated on a plot with a steep slope of 8.5 meters over 32 meters, the house defies the topography through its volumetry. The structure is the subtraction of a fully white parallelepiped, worked by terraces, platforms, and a play of projecting volumes, such as those of the pool and bedrooms. The subtraction of volumes creates a play of light and shadow, where the path of the sun dynamically influences the appearance of the building throughout the day.
The quest for natural light led to the creation of strategically positioned courtyards, providing an abundance of light in the most noble spaces, such as the living room, master bedroom, kitchen, and office. These architectural elements not only visually enrich the interiors but also connect the inhabitants with the exterior. In this sense, all habitable spaces are bathed in natural light during the day, including the bathrooms, thereby reducing the need for artificial lighting.
Committed to eco-efficiency, the house eliminates thermal bridges and incorporates exterior insulation. The adopted construction system combines concrete with the Etics system on the exterior, contributing to energy efficiency and thermal comfort.
Externally, the choice of white color is not only aesthetic but also strategic, as the building takes advantage of the light and shadow generated by the subtractions, seeking to provide a dynamic visual experience, where architecture reveals itself in different nuances over time.
In this project, the visual relationship with neighbors was carefully neutralized to ensure the privacy of the residents. Each opening and strategic arrangement of openings are designed to create a serene and isolated atmosphere without compromising the architecture.
The house is organized on different levels. The basement houses technical areas, a garage, multipurpose spaces and the pool. The ground floor, accessible and autonomous, accommodates the living room, kitchen, office, and a bathroom. While the upper floor is reserved for the suite bedrooms, providing a fluid and intuitive organization of spaces.
In summary, this house goes beyond its architectural function, seeking an expression of harmony between form, function, and respect for the environment. From its privileged location to attention to detail, each element contributes to creating a home where design meets sustainability.
