Casa N was designed as a holiday home for a family, situated on a breathtaking site with 270-degree ocean views of Stintino La Pelosa bay, near Punta Negra Resort. The house was constructed using the footprint of a pre-existing 1950s house located a few meters from the new building.
The design strategically integrates the living spaces with the panoramic views of the bay's distinctive turquoise waters and the picturesque Asinara Island. Positioned between the crest of a hill and a vast expanse of Mediterranean bush, the house spans two floors. The upper floor features a spacious living area at the center, encased in glass to maximize views northward toward the ocean and westward to the large swimming pool. This floor also houses the master bedroom and a guest bathroom. The lower floor, tucked between the site's rocky terrain and the expansive parkland, includes a guest area with four bedrooms and bathrooms.
The house offers sheltered outdoor areas suitable for year-round use, designed to provide protection from the sun, rain, and strong northwesterly winds. An outdoor dining space serves as an extension of the indoor living area, adjacent to a deck that stretches the length of the house from the kitchen to the studio, effectively blending indoor and outdoor living.
To withstand the harsh marine environment, the construction incorporated durable, low-maintenance materials. The ground floor mimics the local rust-colored stones, featuring a similarly organic, structured, and robust surface. On the first floor, weathered steel sunshades, warm-toned white stucco, and concrete harmoniously blend with the surrounding landscape.
Residents experience the soothing sounds of the waves in the expansive living room, enhanced by large glass installations that not only integrate the stunning views but also allow the natural sounds of the waves and environment to permeate the space.
