This apartment building, located in the historic center of Codroipo, is divided vertically into four three-floor units that relate to the local architectural context in a diversified way. While the street prospect neatly blends into the surroundings in simple concept lines, the facade on the inner court features large openings overtly inspired by the stables and barns of the traditional farming houses. This arrangement also allows a wide vista over the canal in front and the luxuriant green of the of the surrounding gardens.
Rather than a plain revisitation of the past structures, the choice here is to establish an evocative link with the local tradition through a variety of hints and citations.
The individual apartments are organized on three levels connected by two flights of stairs in a barycentric position. Specifically, the wood, steel, and glass staircase connecting the living and the night area becomes the axis around which all the rooms are organized in a fluid and balanced sequence. The large windows, the under-the-roof mezzanine area, the measured and proportionate choice of materials, all contribute refinement and nuances to the interior spaces
