Casa MD is designed to foster a deep connection with nature, integrating the landscape into daily life through sustainable strategies, natural materials, and passive design solutions. The architecture embraces the environment, ensuring comfort, efficiency, and minimal ecological impact, while enriching the overall experience.
Responding to its east-west orientation, the design incorporates thermal mass walls and vegetation on the façades to naturally regulate temperature. Large openings allow abundant natural light to enter, while the prevailing southwesterly winds are harnessed through cross ventilation, facilitated by patios, open corridors, and interconnected spaces. These elements create a fluid relationship between indoor and outdoor areas, enhancing well-being through light, air, and greenery.
Located on a 10-meter slope facing the Pachacámac River in Lurín, the house carefully adapts to the terrain, allowing the topography to shape its form. The use of exposed concrete, stone, ironwork, and wooden floors and screens reinforces an organic and authentic aesthetic, providing thermal comfort, durability, and a rich material experience. Over time, these elements evolve with their surroundings, blending into the natural landscape and ensuring a serene and enduring living space.
By prioritizing natural integration, passive climate control, and honest materials, Casa MD creates a timeless retreat where architecture and nature coexist in perfect harmony.
