In one of the most important gastronomic avenues in Guadalajara, Casa Maria was born from the partial demolition of an existing house. In the design process we decided to leave the existing structure, demolish 60% of the existing slab in order to give the restaurant more transparency and vertical space for the “floating forest”.
The roof opens itself so the clients can enjoy the sky and good weather of the city. In the second level a concrete lattice divides the roof of the mezzanine giving the diner some natural light and at the same time has a great view of the “floating forest” and the restaurant.
As a firm we like using raw materials like bricks, concrete, steel, wood and glass so the materials can have their own “life” and erotionate as time pases by.
