Located in the historic downtown of Mérida, Casa Kinder is the result of a meticulous restoration process aimed at returning its colonial essence to a building that had, at some point, lost its architectural identity. Once a kindergarten, this house had been altered to the extent that its original character was completely erased.
Our challenge was to recover its colonial language, reinterpreting it through a warm color palette that ranges from coppery red to soft pink, creating a subtle yet vibrant contrast with its surroundings. The traditional patterned pasta tile floors became a key element in reestablishing the connection to the past, adding texture and authenticity to the spaces.
Every corner of Casa Kinder has been designed to honor Mérida’s architecture and history, blending tradition with contemporary details that enhance the home’s timeless beauty. This restoration not only rescues a structure but also returns a fragment of the city’s architectural identity, transforming what was once a place of learning into a home filled with history and character.
