At the heart of La Romita, a neighborhood that preserves its human scale amid the intensity of Mexico City, CASA JARDIN ROMITA rises as a synthesis of memory and modernity. The project responds to the dual nature of its context, , framed by narrow streets and the shadow of the Neo-Gothic church of San Francisco, the project seeks to reconcile density with serenity, tradition with contemporaneity.
The architectural is born from the desire to reconcile the urban with the natural. The facade, clad in exposed black concrete with an undulating finish, lends the building a sculptural presence, its surface shifting with light and shadows. Against this solid, monolithic skin, the greenery of balconies, terraces and rooftop gardens appears as counterpoint, softening the geometry and infusing the architecture with a living rythm. Far from decorative, greenery acts as a climate moderator; softening solar radiation, purifying the air, and extending domestic life into the outdoors. Vegetation becomes mediator between concrete and atmosphere, between dwelling and environment.
The program unfolds across five residences, a Gardenhouse, two Duplex and two Penthouse, organized in four levels and a semi-basement. Their arrangement resembles a three-dimensional tetris, interlocking pieces that expore density while preserving privacy, naturla light, and cross ventilation.
Inside, the material palette speaks of warmth and restrain. Natural wood, stone, and neutral finishes contrast with the rawness of concrete, producing an atmosphere both robust and delicate. Light penetrates through generous openings, expanding interiors and reinforcing the bond witht he surrounding greenery that animates each dwelling.
CASA JARDIN ROMITA, is more than a housing project, its a refelction on contemporary living in Mexico City, a search for serenity within urban density, a manifesto for cultivating gardens at the very core of the metropolis.
