A minimalist, contemporary house designed for the extraordinary views of ocean and beach on the Costalegre area of the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Casa J incorporates a number of green features and is a surprising house is this location. While the location is a little less than a two-hour drive from Puerto Vallarta, it presented challenges for materials and the construction crew. Local stone is used extensively for walls. Polished concrete is used on some wall surfaces and the majority of floors. The main "great room" area is finished with imported Italian tiles that are 75% recycled material. Solar is used for hot water and electricity with a grid tie system. Rain water is captured and gray water is used for landscape. Black water is treated in a Biodigestor that produces useable gray water and solids. All lighting is LED. Casa J combines smart features with a design that takes full advantage of the magnificent views of beach and ocean.
