The project utilizes a dilapidated house in a medium density area of the historic core of Puerto Vallarta to create a small multi-family project of 6 units. The project follows the spirit of repopulating historic downtowns. The site itself lays on a steep hill 3 blocks from the ocean, 2 blocks from the historic Cathedral, and City Hall. Such location allows for impressive views of the ocean, mountains, and the historic core of the town.Due to its location within the historic core, with a predominantly Mexican-colonial Architecture, Casa Iturbide preserves the order of a greater ratio of walls to openings, and the utilization of regional materials in its construction. The final look, though contemporary in design, blends in with the existing style and character of the surrounding context.
