Casa Ibi: A Journey from Renovation to Transformation
What began as a modest renovation request—a small update to the gourmet annex, a bedroom expansion, and a few decorative tweaks—soon evolved into a full-scale transformation. The client’s growing enthusiasm for the project gave Casa Ibi a new life, turning it into a sanctuary of comfort, functionality, and natural beauty.
The original brick façade became the heart of the design concept. To preserve its rustic charm and create visual harmony, we developed a custom texture for the external walls using brick dust from the existing structure. This earthy tone extends to the outdoor flooring, which was replaced with warm red sandstone, seamlessly connecting the vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Casa Ibi is designed around the idea of well-being—spaces that are pleasant, functional, and free of excess. The main house underwent a complete revitalization: living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms received new finishes, while the kitchen was expanded to welcome light, color, and connection. New doors now link the kitchen to the dining area, enhancing flow and sociability.
The annex became a vibrant leisure hub. A gourmet space featuring a pizza oven, wood-fired oven, and barbecue now integrates with a sauna and powder room, making weekends by the pool even more enjoyable. The design emphasizes continuity, with matching tones across floors, walls, and countertops. The ceiling stands out with exposed wooden beams and handcrafted bamboo paneling—a nod to Brazilian tradition that also enhances acoustic comfort. Fully opening doors allow for natural cross-ventilation, eliminating the need for artificial cooling.
One of Casa Ibi’s most striking features is the veranda that projects toward the valley, offering a privileged view of the reservoir and the soothing shade of native trees. The sauna, designed with glass walls and benches facing the pool and garden, fosters interaction between users of the sauna, pool, and hot tub—creating a truly integrated wellness experience.
Custom woodwork plays a central role in the project. We chose eucalyptus wood for its lightness and subtle rusticity, paired with green lacquer and woven cane cabinet doors. These elements bring warmth, functionality, and a touch of nostalgia.
The neutral-toned décor highlights the client’s art collection, while the furniture—featuring Brazilian designers and signature pieces—adds character and authenticity to each space.
A key achievement of the project was the seamless integration between the main house and the annex. Pergolas with thermal glass roofs connect the structures, creating shaded verandas and seating areas that invite relaxation and appreciation of nature. Outdoor paths were redesigned, and relocating the carport opened the front view of the house, allowing the landscaping to shine
