Located in a wooded residential area of Zapopan, Jalisco, Casa Hípico is a single-family residence that responds sensitively to the natural slope of the land and the need for privacy. The architectural concept is developed across three levels—basement, ground floor, and upper floor—articulating a program that prioritizes spatial clarity, material honesty, and a seamless connection with the exterior.
From the street, the house presents a restrained and monolithic façade. A stone-clad wall partially conceals a sculptural staircase, guiding the visitor through a landscaped ascent framed by vegetation and an art piece, reinforcing the transition from public to private space.
The ground floor houses the social areas: a spacious kitchen, dining room, living room, and a guest bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. All spaces open up to the rear garden, where a linear pool, a sunken fire pit, and an outdoor terrace create a continuous flow between interior and exterior living.
At the heart of the house, a double-height living space acts as a vertical connector, linking the public areas below with the private realm above. The upper floor features the master suite with a private terrace and two secondary bedrooms, all with private bathrooms and closets. These rooms are oriented to maximize natural light and garden views while maintaining privacy.
The basement level integrates service and recreational areas, including a wine bar, gym, game room, study, garage, and staff quarters. Natural lighting is introduced through a sunken courtyard that brings ventilation and a sense of openness to the lower level.
Materiality plays a fundamental role in the project’s atmosphere. Travertine marble, black volcanic stone, natural wood, tempered glass, and steel define a timeless and elegant palette. Warm indirect lighting and curated landscaping enhance the sensory experience of each space.
Casa Hípico is a contemporary residence where architectural precision and spatial comfort converge with artistic expression and natural serenity—an introspective home designed for both contemplation and everyday living.
