Located in San Pedro Garza García, N.L., Casa Fiordo’s interior design is a manifestation of amazement, seeking to generate reflective pauses to appreciate Arq. Elías Rizo’s architectural design Casa Fiordo’s interior design depicts a modern-funcional attitude without loosing its characterizing house warming quality; a challenge for a residence that serves as an Open-House exhibition for 6 months.
Linea Vertical’s responsibilities for serving as the local office, suggested head Architect Elias Rizo, to change the laundry from the basement to the upper floor, and send the service areas towards the back. Thus a home theater was born next to the terrace and barbecue área. All of this with the intention to regionalize the project to the specific needs of Monterrey’s population.
A dramatic visual focus was sought in the hall by creating a movement in the ceiling with a black box in the shape of an irregular triangle, inverse to the natural flow of the hallway, drawing attention to a laterally illuminated fabric sculpture.
Details are declarations of design itself. The house is an authentic expresión of colors, each with their own meaning and function. Vertical planes and scenery in different shades of black, mamey, and gold provide us with visual depth. Each bedroom has its own personality; yellow for the girls bedroom, turqoise for the boys, and finally, orange for the main bedroom. Blue and walnut tones were used in the family room. Doors, railings, and bookcase designs were the geometric abstraction of the residence’s design concept.
Natural light entrances and focal accents direct us throughout space’s volumetry to its finest details. The projects artwork works as an unifying design element. Wall’s artwork, perfectly complements the residence’s conceptual objective, simple, but well defined volumetry to evoke peace, order and harmony.
