Casa en Campanar is an opportunity to rethink the needs and wishes of a family. A “space thought for them”, because we understand home is generated by the space, with those who inhabit it, in a kind of perfect symbiosis.
The house is located in an emerging area of the city of Valencia, where large high-quality but absolutely impersonal buildings are made. The challenge is to capture the personality of this family in the functional distribution, in the material aesthetics and in possible future changes. The result? A current, comfortable and changing house that "grows with them".
From the beginning, both parties, the MMA team and the client, we are clear that, for this to be possible, a comprehensive reform of the house has to be carried out where architecture goes hand in hand with interior design. For this reason, it is conceived from the first sketches as a unit, as a whole, opting for the "turnkey" model.
A complex and very wide needs program is established, reflecting the sum of each of the family members. The real challenge is that within these different desires and requirements there is a common core, a harmony that brings unión and order. In short, to transform the space into a home, into their home.
From a functional point of view, the spaces are studied to mainly achieve two objectives: the differentiated "public / private" double circulation and the union between the main areas of kitchen, living room, dining room and access. Among the resources used to achieve these objectives, we highlight two of them: on the one hand, an L-shaped partition with a marked personality, which organizes the internal routes of the house and, on the other, the closure of the old terrace transforming it into an interior, comfortable and well insulated thermally and acoustically space.
Finally, from an aesthetic point of view, the choice of materials, finishes, textiles, papers, etc. it is based on obtaining a pleasant environment for life. A home where "you feel good", where you want to return.
