DHN HOUSE
Located on the outskirts of Piura, this single-family residence is positioned along a road in a developing urban area, yet to achieve full consolidation. In response to this disordered environment, the design focuses inward, emphasizing a connection with a central open space that features a garden and pool. The house is closed off to the exterior to avoid views of the chaotic surroundings, instead generating its own internal vistas within the lot by enclosing the central space through containing façades.
The architectural composition is defined by successive planes arranged in dialogue with two solid triangular volumes, creating a visual tension that articulates the design's longitudinality. These precise and clear forms reinforce the house's identity and the perception of its façades as dynamic and structured elements.
The residence is structured around two functional zones arranged in an “L” shape. The first, compact and functional, concentrates the main spaces: living room, dining room, kitchen, and bedrooms. The second, more flexible and public, includes the terrace, game room, and a study, allowing flexibility to various social and family activities. Both packages are integrated around the central space, creating a continuous flow that connects the interior with the exterior.
The design also takes advantage of an existing slope on the site, addressing the terrain through a stepped platform that elevates the rear portion of the house. This elevation creates a contemplative garden that serves as a retreat, allowing for window openings that enhance cross-ventilation. Additionally, generous exterior pathways are designed, encouraging both contemplation of the central space and appreciation of the architectural forms.
