Casa del Virrey Eslava is a top residential complex in the historic district of Cartagena, Colombia, developed between 2005 and 2009 with 59 customized units, plenty of open areas like interior gardens and rooftop terraces with a fine view to the Caribbean Sea. This project combined restoration and contemporary design coauthored by architects Jaime Correa Vélez and Alberto Samudio Trallero in a site composed by 9 properties that were joint as the traditional school La Esperanza over 150 years. The main house used to be the residence of the spanish Viceroy Sebastián de Eslava, who was the estrategist behind the succesful defense of the city during the attempt of take over by the brithish fleet, commanded by admiral Edward Vernon in 1741.
