Seeking to preserve the original elements of the residence, this retrofit enabled a perfect dialogue between the contemporary proposal and the existing roots, both of the house and of the villa itself.
We preserved the original structures and proposed demolitions to improve integration and luminosity of the spaces.
On the ground floor, the green hydraulic tile floor stands out, proposed as a replacement for the old wooden floor that was condemned.
The green of the floor visually connects with the green of the mashrabiya brises on the façade and other elements chosen in the same palette, referring to our Brazilianness.
On one of the sides, a garden was proposed for a more intimate contact with nature, seen from various angles of the rooms such as the kitchen, laundry room and living room.
We also preserved and restored the staircase with wooden treads, which was undervalued, previously covered by plaster on the protrusion with the living room. The proposal was to uncover it and leave it exposed, highlighting the origins of the project.
On the upper floor, we also demolished some walls to expand the bedrooms. The wooden floors were restored and maintained. The biggest change was made to the bathrooms, with the replacement of the tiles, bringing in the traditional white tiles on the walls, which harmonize with the green tiles on the floor.
The renovation of Casa da Vila was proposed to rescue and respect the existing residential village look, made up of semi-detached houses, while incorporating new, contemporary concepts in line with the needs of its new residents.
