Not often architects have the chance to intervene in such unique contexts, like the one choosed for the construction of this single family house. Located near Bucelas, in Portugal, the site is surrounded by a landscape virtually “untouched” from human intervention.
The volumetric shape of the building followed a concept strongly influenced by the morphology of the terrain, which was intended to be maintain unchanged, as well as the extensive and breathtaking views over the valley, with the vineyards of Bucelas as a backdrop. The building is assumed as an organic fragmented composition, stretching across the slope in an asymmetrical shape, following the site natural "irregularities", allowing it to multiply and diversify the views over the surrounding landscape.
