The proposal for this residence, located on a 525 m² site in Cuernavaca, Morelos, embraces density and introspection. It is conceived as a domestic fortress that protects the inner life of its inhabitants and redefines the notion of privacy in contemporary architecture, standing in contrast to the extroverted transparency of glass.
The façade is envisioned as a sculptural play of four blind volumes. Two on the ground floor—dedicated to garage and office—and two superimposed—housing a gym and service areas—compose a front that denies the street and turns toward an interior universe. This volumetric composition grants the ensemble a sober and forceful character.
Materiality serves as the guiding thread of the narrative. Chukum, with its ancestral warmth and earthy texture, softens the geometric rigor of the surfaces, while lattices of black-pigmented concrete act as tectonic diaphragms: filtering light and air, providing privacy, and adding a brutalist texture that intensifies the atmosphere.
The 291 m² program is organized primarily on a single level. A central corridor functions as the project’s main axis and backbone, setting the rhythm of circulation and leading to the social area of kitchen and dining room. Organizational clarity combines with moments of openness and retreat, generating a balanced spatial experience.
The culminating gesture lies in the relationship with water. The pool, conceived both as a recreational space and a swimming lane, extends to the master bedroom, dissolving the boundaries between interior and exterior in an absolute sensory act.
The residence asserts itself as an architecture of silence and density, where privacy becomes the guiding principle and materiality the expressive language. A project whose strength lies in introspection and in the ability to transform domestic space into a contemporary refuge.
