The project consisted in the renovation of an apartment located in the historical center of Mantua city. The design strategy was to adapt the house’s original features to the young couple’s needs, looking forward some fluency in the rooms’ distribution. This work was therefore turned into an abstract language composed by the simple chasing of surfaces and characterized by some material and chromatic uniformity; all was enhanced by the urban light that breaks into the rooms throughout windows and openings. A custom designed furniture, that from the entrance to the living area, represents the true project’s leitmotif, capable of binding all the rooms together almost as if they were drawn by a single stroke of pencil. A wooden floor, recovered through a shy restoration, visually harmonizes the whole house, lending itself to the sought-after idea of an essential but warm domestic setting atmosphere.
