Located in the hills of Escazú, Costa Rica, Casa Beer-Fuscaldo II is a residence designed for an architect and an artist, both seniors, blending practicality with creative expression.
At the center of the home is a vertical atrium crowned by a glass roof, providing a central axis for the house’s four levels. Ramps spiral through the space, ensuring fluid circulation and accessibility, while creating visual and spatial continuity.
The house is deliberately inward-facing, emphasizing privacy and calm. Its minimalist design features smooth white walls that reflect natural light, creating a subdued atmosphere that also serves as a backdrop for the artist-owner’s personal gallery.
The top-floor artist’s studio connects directly to a double-height living area, integrating creative and living spaces. Private areas, including the bedrooms, balance openness and seclusion, with balconies offering selective views of the Central Valley while maintaining privacy.
Materials and elements, such as diagonally patterned walls and horizontal louvers, interact with the environment to manage light and ventilation. Casa Beer-Fuscaldo II is a home designed to meet the specific needs of its owners, creating a functional, artistic, and serene environment.
