Casa 13×13 is a compact single-family house in Monterrey, Mexico, designed within a strict 13 by 13 metre footprint. The project explores how a clear geometric structure and an inward-focused spatial organisation can generate generous living conditions within a limited domestic scale.
The house is organised around a central open void that functions as a courtyard, providing daylight, ventilation and visual continuity throughout the interior. This void acts as the primary spatial organiser, connecting circulation areas, social spaces and private rooms across multiple levels.
A restrained material palette and precise spatial sequencing emphasise the clarity of the architectural concept. Rather than relying on large openings to the exterior, the project prioritises internal relationships between spaces, creating a calm and controlled living environment that responds to its urban context.
Casa 13×13 demonstrates how compact residential architecture can achieve spatial richness through simplicity, proportion and careful organisation, offering an alternative approach to contemporary urban housing.
