The house is located on a hill, on the southern coast of Portugal. It was necessary to take into account the climatic features of the area: strong winds and bright scorching sun.
The architecture, characterized by squatness and the predominance of horizontals, harmoniously fits into the environment due to the division of various functional zones by atriums, which mutually integrate the interior and exterior. Wide roofs and large windows add lightness and airiness to the architecture while protecting the residents of the house from direct sunlight.
The maximum privacy of the plot has been preserved: the house, located outside the dense development, is not visible from either side, but residents can clearly see the ocean and the surrounding landscape. The project is eco–friendly: the used materials such as concrete, glass, and wood are locally produced, thereby achieving zero carbon emissions.
