Meadow Houses are located on the front of the southern and western slopes of the Carraig Ridge Foothills, and as such, they enjoy uninterrupted panoramic views. The Meadow Lots offer unparalleled lake and mountain views. At Lot 3-2, a focused view to the natural Alberta fescue grasses from the entry area contrasts and emphasizes a 180 degree panoramic view of Ghost lake to the east and the Rockies to the west from the main living space. With no obstructing houses, vegetation or topography in front of the Meadow Lots, these houses get spectacular views from every room. However, because they are on the front slopes of the hills, they are exposed and have the potential to disturb the views from houses located further back on the hill. A number of strategies are used to mitigate the negative impact of the house from behind. A stricter height regulation of 4m at the back of the house, less than half the typical height restriction of 10m, encourages one storey houses that are partially buried to sit low in the landscape.Grass House engages the topography and vegetation of its site by extending grass up on to its roof where it touches the ground at either end of the building. From behind, it appears to flow out of the meadow with very little impact to the view.
