Located on the highway to Eskişehir, masterplanning and design of Çankaya University Main Campus began in 2007. The initial phase comprising of 60.000 m² built area was completed for the 2011-2012 academic year with three faculties, a foreign language school, administration, library and social facilities. The second phase was completed with a Dormitories, Sports Center, Congress and Cultural Center buildings in 2018. The third phase in planned to begin in 2019 with buildings for Law and Architecture schools.
Addressing the highly challenging site topography, the guiding principle for the campus masterplan was to develop the intercampus circulation as a network of internal circulation of buildings. Multiple access elevations created an opportunity to design inner courtyards and surrounding volumes. A forestation programme has been part of the masterplan. As a 21st century campus, Çankaya University employs a variety of active and passive sustainability techniques.
