The Canadian Firefighters Memorial is a national memorial park designed to honour the service of fallen Canadian firefighters, create intimate spaces for private reflection and meditation, and provide a new home for the CFFF’s annual memorial service. The design comprises a bronze firefighter statue, 60-foot firepole, Dedication Pine Tree, Sloped Grove, granite Name Wall, sitting nook, and Reflection Garden, and involved extensive custom stone fabrication, typography, visual graphics, sculptural art, lighting and plantings.
The Name Wall stands as an abstract interpretation of the Canadian map, its surface carved with the names of fallen firefighters. The Grove contains sugar maple trees set amongst dense plantings of seasonally changing shrubs and perennials that achieve full vibrancy in the fall months, creating a thick fiery-red carpet of foliage.
